The SE Xperia Pureness

Good news for all those style conscious people who have been waiting for the ‘Fashion Phone’ as Sony calls it; as the Xperia Pureness is now available. Yes! So, If you have a spare $990 you can now get your hands on a Sony Ericsson Xperia Purness Mobile phone.

What do you get for your $990? Well, not really that much. It has a monochrome 1.8 inch TFT display, a built in music player, the ability to watch videos, an FM radio, and built in Bluetooth. It’s not that really amazing for me but the “transparent” display looks pretty cool though. But it’s a fashion phone so as expected.

You can watch it on action below. Hope you’ll have fun!

Worlds Most Powerful Desktop Supercomputer

Scientist at the University of Antwerp created the current world's most powerful desktop supercomputer, the Fastra II, which rises a total of 13 NVIDIA chipsets.

The Fastra II has a 2.66GHz Intel Core i7 Processor for its main processor, and it has six dual-GPU GeForce GTX 295 graphics cards and a Single GeForce GTX275, which gives a total of 13 GPUs. The NVIDIA cards can accelerate CUDA and other general purpose computing tasks, and this gives the Fastra II a massive 12 Terraflops of computing power.

Check out the video below to learn more about how the Fastra II really works.

Interesting Xperiment from NASA

NASA has developed an airbag exclusive for helicopters. Contrasting standard airbags, this one is on the outer surface of the helicopter and it is designed to protect it in the event of a crash.

The airbag system is an expandable honeycomb cushion, which NASA have named the ‘deployable energy absorber’, and the helicopter was dropped from 35ft, you can see what happens in the video below.

Apparently according to NASA, who used a range of crash test dummies in the test, one of which was fitted with special sensors to detect damage to internal organs, all survived the crash without injury. It will be interesting to see how this technology develops, and can be translated into the real world.

The Google Nexus One

Google handed out mobile phones to their employees, the Google Nexus One, which is now being reported as the much rumored Google Phone that we have heard about over the last few months.

The details on the phone still remain to be pretty insufficient at the moment; it looks to be physically similar to the HTC passion, without the HTC logo, although it has been reported as being slimmer. That seems to be about it for details so far, it looks like it runs Android, and features a built in scroll wheel.

There are no confirmations yet as whether the Google Nexus One is just a Christmas gift to employees, or where this is the actual Google Phone that Google intend to release.

The Ultimate Christmas Truck

"Some people get into the Christmas mood more than others, with large Christmas light displays on their houses, one Iowa resident decided to decorate his truck with a total of 3,000 Christmas lights.

The Christmas Truck belongs to Kris Marshall who was taking a generator and some Christmas lights to his church, instead of carrying out his delivery Kris decided to decorate his truck with the Christmas Lights.

According to Kris Marshall the truck only looks good at night, as apparently all the lights are just taped to the truck, which can be seen in daylight. Kris used about 50 to 75 different strings of lights, and each string has around 50 to 100 lights, so that is a lot of Christmas lights."
